    Love to be able to import SketchUp created models into Felix directly, without needing to convert them into .obj

    • Scan for System Requirements

      you need a way to scan the local system gpu | drivers to make sure Felix will work on it... the current wx only assumes people with wx have a gpu thats up to the task and that may not be the case

      p.s, as it is now pressing rendor on a system without a good gpu | driver just does nothing at all... imo it should at least spit out an error file

        • Support for 3D Printing

          STL files and dimensions (metric and imperial) for 3D printing. Manipulation of shapes from anchor points not just scaling. Extruding off of faces
          Separate a group of faces from an object to produce 2 different solids without the use of subtraction.

            Thanks for the suggestions! Just as an FYI we generally track each feature individually, so we do have suggestions for STL support and add/subtract meshes to make new shapes, for example. Might suggest voting on those!

            3D printing is definitely something we’re keeping in mind!

          • Import Solidworks 3D File Formats

            In my company, product designers usually render from Solidworks, and we have to wait for product samples to complete ad photography.

            I was hoping Felix could cut out the middle man, but today I found out that Felix supports no file types Solidworks can export. It kind of defeats the purpose of the program for my role.

            If we could support any of these file types (obviously excluding PS, PDF's, and JPEGS). We want this specifically to take prototype models to photography level.

            • Import and Extrude Illustrator Vectors

              I am a Data Visualization Designer, i often use Maya to import my Illustrator files to then extrude and create charts in 3D. Would be cool if down the road i could import illustrator components into Felix so i could just ditch Maya and stay within the Adobe cloud. Love the ease of Felix so far.

                Love all the discussion here, you guys have some great ideas and I appreciate you sharing the various workflows you’re looking for. This idea is specifically about importing vectors and extruding them into 3D shapes.                 I’d love to get some more information on your desires and needs for extrusion!

                Simply adding depth to create the 3D shape or also beveling the corners to make round edges? Would you want a profile feature to define more unique corners shapes (such as the lip of a table which might have curves and sharp edges in tiers)?

                I’d also love to know about the actual meshes that are created. For example, if you bring in text would it be better if the text was all one ‘object’ that moves together or each letter broken into…

              • .fbx file import capability

                I like the idea of using this application to create quick conceptuals from rough block outs of geometry from an outside 3D program. Throw on some shaders, quick HDRI from selection and render. Not sure if we can import custom obj or fbx from outside 3D programs such as Maya? Very limited if we can only use adobe stock.

                Also would like to know how to delete materials from the document panel.
                Just don't like seeing materials stack up if they aren't being used like useless junk layers.

                Nifty idea here though if further refined! Hope it can use it…

                  I do a lot of packaging mockups and would love to be able to map my AI files to a 3D model instead of doing it all in Photoshop layer by layer.

                      Creation is a really big topic, and there’s been a lot of activity here so I wanted to follow up a bit! Felix is not a modeling application at this time but we certainly want to bring in some elements of creation. I want to be clear that we currently have none of this planned, it’s an area of interest for us and we are looking for feedback from the community on what would be the most beneficial. Some things we’re looking at supporting are vector extrusion, basic shape creation, and pen tools for 3D vector/spline creation. Down the line it could be things like sculpting or simulation for fluids and particles.

                      Because creation is so big I’d love to keep this overall topic to track the interest in general creation but there are also ideas posted for specific types of creation. It would be great if you guys can…

                    • Export 3D Objects

                      I'm sure you hear this a lot, but it would be great to have the ability to export objects in .C4D and .FBX file formats to be able to bring them into programs like After Effects and directly into Photoshop.

                        • Manually create horizon line

                          Not all photographs have the obvious horizon line that you use in your tutorials. However, as the photographer sometimes you know where it is. It would be great if you could manually insert a horizon line where you know that it is and have it use that. i.e. just draw a horizon line on the photograph that you have used.

                            • Infographic presets

                              In C4D there are infographic presets ( Adjustable piechart etc.) that are very useful for some people. That might be an idea for later.

                                • History or Revert feature

                                  A revert feature would be great in this app - just to provide some recourse when experimenting with lighting and material properties etc.. Learning by trial and error I am quiting quite a lot in order to get to a previous point [ultimate would be a history like Photoshop of course!]

                                      It would be great to see your texture inputs for materials follow a more traditional physically based rendering workflow. This is useful when creating content across different apps to keep a uniform look.
                                      I would love to see these attributes for each material along with what currently exists like opacity, translucence, IOR, etc..

                                      albedo/diffuse (flat color)
                                      metallic (how reflective) or specular
                                      roughness (how blurry for reflections) or glossiness
                                      normal/bump (micro surface lighting info)
                                      height/displacement (displaced geometry based luminance info)
                                      ambient occlusion
                                      curvature
                                      fresnel (reflectance based on normal)

                                      If this app could communicate with something like substance designer of substance painter,…

                                      • Be able to access Bridge for images through Felix.

                                        Time factor as well as direct accessibility to images would be key for Felix if Bridge images could be imported without going through Libraries. If one works with multi-adobe-apps the library is good for some aspects as reworked files but images that are direct should not have to go through another step in order to access.
