Render times are slow, not usable.
Render times are way to slow. If I render a simluaur scene in Cinema 4D, it takes only 1,5 - 2 minutes instead of forever...8 votes
Hello everyone. I wanted to let you know that performance is a huge consideration for us right now. There are a lot of reasons why the renderer is slower than it should be and we are working on getting it all set up. We do expect to see a lot of improvement here in the next release but I’ll let you know as we move forward with this!
Hi, We should be able change the material felix native from .obj imported file with mapping.
Allow Felix 3D models to embed into inDesign for .epub output!2 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! I’d love to know some specific workflows you’d like to do here. For example is it for product shots inside a design document or something? Great suggestion.
In C4D there are infographic presets ( Adjustable piechart etc.) that are very useful for some people. That might be an idea for later.1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! We’ve thought about including something like this, charts and graphs that can have data loaded and generate automatically. Definitely something to think about!
One feature that I'd like to see is added to the finished product is a way of saving a camera angle/perspective as a template or preset, so you can move the camera around but come back to that angle later. Surscribe to this if you agree!
*Edit* I see this idea is already out there. I'll still post this just to express my agreement haha1 vote
you need a way to scan the local system gpu | drivers to make sure Felix will work on it... the current wx only assumes people with wx have a gpu thats up to the task and that may not be the case
p.s, as it is now pressing rendor on a system without a good gpu | driver just does nothing at all... imo it should at least spit out an error file2 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! I love the idea of the app being smart enough to tell you what’s wrong before there’s issues. :) We’ll see what we can do!
Exporting shapes of body to illustrator and photoshop and import illustrations/images to apply to the object
I often find myself designing packages for instance, and its a pain to go back and fourth from 3D to 2D. If felix could export the shape of a body to illustrator, i could work on a 2D design knowing exactly where it would be on the 3D body, and then export the 2D design directly back into felix, without the painful process of saving PNGs, SVGs or whatever...1 vote
I cant find a way to atach a image to a face of my object, once i cant import the mtl file that fusion generated, nor import the png itself. Its very frustrating, i wont be able to use felix for this project simply due to the lack of this feature, and my renders wil absolutly suck1 vote
A revert feature would be great in this app - just to provide some recourse when experimenting with lighting and material properties etc.. Learning by trial and error I am quiting quite a lot in order to get to a previous point [ultimate would be a history like Photoshop of course!]1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely a revert feature is something we’ll add. We’re considering a history panel or time feature.
It would be nice to be able to do rapid prototyping integration for VR testing of 3D spaces before going to Unity 3D to build. Could add as an output option to render equirectangular pngs. Then you could plug in the phone similar to XD prototyping to view on device and/or in a cardboard viewer.2 votes
Thanks for the extra information. VR/AR is just a wildly awesome area so we’re definitely interested in exploring this space. :)
There needs to be a way to cut or splice the image to create points that can be stretched, rotated or moved from the object separate from the rest of it.1 vote
Hi! Interesting discussion, wondering if you could provide a bit more detail. When you say cut/splice the image do you mean the 3D models?
I just started digging around in Project Felix and it is kind of a huge time safer for me, as I often have to put 3D Models into pictures for clients, also for animating them further in AE and in Cinema 4D this takes a lot of time - BUT I often get the 3D models with an .mtl Material or just a Cinema 4D file.
It would be great to be able to import those models with their materials right into Project Felix.2 votes
Hello! We actually already do this (to some degree)!
If you have an .obj with an .mtl and associated textures Felix will read it and import the textures along with the file. However, there are definitely some bugs with this, we haven’t caught all the cases by any means. We do a conversion into our own material system, so the materials aren’t a direct 1-1.
What would be great is if you can submit a ticket with your file for testing. The more use cases we have, the better we can explore and fix all the cases from different programs. It would be for testing only, not distributed or used in any way. If not possible, that’s okay too, we’re working on it, but examples help!
Render just a selection.3 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! Can I ask for a bit more detail? Would you want to define an area of the screen and have that keep rendering even if you change your camera? Or just like a quick “Show me this area” then it goes away?
Easily import patterns from image formats like .gif, .png, .jpeg, etc. I would like to apply patterns to objects without creating a material. I would like to just be able to import a pattern from an image format like a .png file and have it get applied to a surface material. For instance, I have a model of a coffee mug and I want to add a pattern to it from a .png file that I purchased online.2 votes
Hello! Definitely understand the desire to easily place patterns, but I wanted to ask about your request ‘without creating a material’. Can you describe what you mean here? Right now you can add any image or pattern to the color of a material to get the effect your’e looking for. You just want to do that without editing the material? How do you imagine that would work? Is it a layer that’s on top of the material? Or an automatic way to hook into the material?

Crashes Then Corrupts Original File - We NEED AUTO Backups!!
If we had automatic backups, my 5 hours of work would not be lost. Felix IS the next major player in the 3D modeling market so this is a MUST HAVE safety feature.1 vote
Hello! Definitely a great suggestion and something the team is considering heavily right now. It didn’t make our first few beta releases, but it’s on our roadmap for sure. I’ll let you know when we’re closer. :)
"Create Light From Image" button should be under the "Light" section located in the SCENE list that is between the "Background" and "Camera" buttons.1 vote
To clarify do you want the button in the scene list itself or in the properties when you have the light selected?
photogrammetry software like" Photomodeler", "Agisoft PhotoScan" and "Acute3D" were still not making the 3Dmodel from multicamera positions as accurate and with high resolution as I needed it to be.
Perhaps Adobe can make a difference ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_photogrammetry_software
I am using 9 Nikon D800 camera's to do lenticular, timefreeze and 3D modeling . No accurate and easy software ( affordable and powerfull ) software yet tried that meets demands.
Currently using twitter Pro in After Affects for inter-camera calculations. A 3D model instead of rotoscoping front from background would be helpful too to get AE and Twixtor Pro working better.2 votes
It’s definitely possibe! We’ve considered building some sort of support into the Adobe Capture mobile app, for example. Would love to know others thoughts on this topic.
estimate rendering time. 5-30 mins is still better than nothing.3 votes
In the 0.2.0 release we did include a progress bar and time elapsed counter, but we want to expand this to be a true time estimate as well.
STL files and dimensions (metric and imperial) for 3D printing. Manipulation of shapes from anchor points not just scaling. Extruding off of faces
Separate a group of faces from an object to produce 2 different solids without the use of subtraction.2 votes
Thanks for the suggestions! Just as an FYI we generally track each feature individually, so we do have suggestions for STL support and add/subtract meshes to make new shapes, for example. Might suggest voting on those!
3D printing is definitely something we’re keeping in mind!
